About Us

Learn about our Mission

Eko Vision Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization,

dedicated to improving the lives of people with low vision and blindness through accessible, privacy-first technology.

Bridging the Blind and Technology

We serve as the bridge between people with blindness and low vision and the technology that can empower them. Listening to their voices, understanding their needs, and ensuring those needs are clearly communicated to developers and innovators.

Privacy-First Solutions

While others may choose when to interact with AI, people who are blind or have low vision rely on assistive technology daily. We advocate for privacy-first solutions so that accessibility never comes at the expense of dignity. Privacy is a right, not a privilege.

Partner with innovators

We collaborate with engineers and technology companies to build solutions that truly serve the blind and low-vision community. Helping teams understand real needs, teaching individuals how to use new tools with confidence, and ensuring feedback flows back to product creators.

Our Story

This foundation was born from love and inspired by two incredible people in my life.

My grandmother Eko lost her sight to glaucoma, but she never let it dim her spirit. She still does her hair every morning and loves to dress up like the elegant lady she's always been. When she calls asking us to describe the colors of her clothes or help her understand the world around her, it reminds me that vision isn't just about seeing—it's about dignity, independence, and connection.

My father, a retired software engineer, couldn't bear to see his mother struggle. So he created something beautiful: a simple but powerful iPhone app using offline AI to describe surroundings for people who are blind or have low vision.

Their ongoing back-and-forth conversation designing technology tailored to her needs is exactly the kind of collaboration I’d love to see more of, where real people’s lived experiences shape the tools meant to empower them. What started as a way to help one grandmother has grown into something bigger, a community-driven mission built on love, technology, and the belief that accessibility should empower every person's dignity and independence.

At Eko Vision Foundation, we're not just developing assistive technology. We're protecting privacy for those who rely on AI daily, ensuring that blind and low vision individuals can use technology just like sighted people do—with choice, control, and confidence.

a More Accessible Future

Every step forward brings independence, dignity, and opportunity to people with low vision and blindness. Whether you give, volunteer, or collaborate, your support helps us turn innovation into impact.

I am visually impaired. I would like to see things that are ready for use by the blind and visually impaired, cost less so that we can afford to get trained to use the products
